Notice of Race

Rules

The regatta will be governed by the Rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing, the Sailing Instructions and this Notice of Race.

 For each race in the Regatta, each boat competing shall be helmed by a female from the warning signal for her class until she has finished, except for brief absences to attend to emergencies.

Eligibility

This regatta is open to all boats with valid PHRF certificates, and others that can form a level or one design class and supply a set of class rules, subject to the discretion of the race committee.

Entries

Competitors may enter online at: http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.html  PHRF certificates may be uploaded at the time of registration (preferred), or delivered to the Competitors Briefing.

The entry fee for each regatta will be $35.00 if paid before 1159 hours on September 9th. Entries paid after 1159 hours September 9th will be assessed a $5.00 late fee. Entry fees will be refunded if the entry is withdrawn prior to the entry deadline.  The deadline for all entries is Friday, September 11th.  Boats intending to race in a handicap fleet must have a current PHRF-GB rating certificate.

Courses

Courses will be windward-leeward of various lengths in that part of Galveston Bay bounded by The Bayport Ship Channel, The Houston Ship Channel, and the shoreline between Red Bluff and Eagle Point.

Sailing Instructions

Sailing instructions will be available at the GBCA office after 1900 Friday, September 11th.  Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 0800 on the day it will take effect, except that any change to the schedule of races will be posted by 2000 on the day before it will take effect.

Notices to Competitors will be posted on the door of the GBCA office and at http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.html.

Schedule of Events

A competitors briefing for both events will be held at the GBCA office at 1900 Friday, September 11th.

As many as races as practical will be run, but not more than 3 races for each class will be run during the regatta. Subsequent races for each class will be started as soon as possible after the class has finished the prior race. The warning signal for the first race will not be before 1100 hours.

   

  Trophy presentations will be on Saturday, September 12th at the GBCA office after the conclusion of the last race.
