National One Design Sailing Academy is pleased to announce the first annual “1D Sailing Cup” to be held the weekend of September 26 & 27, 2015. The event is open to any Sail Canada member club in Ontario and is designed to bring Yacht Clubs from Ontario together to compete for top honours and the perpetual 1D Sailing perpetual trophy. The event will be hosted aboard our professionally maintained fleet of ten Flying Tiger 7.5m at our Bronte Outer Harbour Marina location in Oakville. Crews Requirements: 1) Maximum total of 5 crew (no weight limits) 2) All crew must be members of the club in good standing in the year prior to the event 3) Crew must include at least one member of the club’s youth sailing program and be 18 years of age or younger as of September 1, 2015. Teams will be competing for prizes that will benefit their respective junior sailing programs. Top prize will consist of brand new sails worth $1,000 for their junior program sailboats. The outline for the weekend schedule is as follows: Friday, September 25th Check in & Optional Practice Day Saturday, September 26th Morning Check in, Race Day 1 & BBQ Social Sunday, September 27th Race Day 2 & Awards Ceremony There will be a $500 entrance fee per team. Yacht Clubs wishing to compete will be required to confirm their interest to completing on-line registration before August 25, 2015. A maximum of 10 spots will be awarded on a first come basis.
