ATTENTION C-420 SAILORS -- Pursuant to the 2015 MAYRA SJSS Rules and Regulations --- "All C420s must be equipped with a masthead floatation device intended to reduce the chance of turning turtle. Acceptable devices include masthead buoyancy bags (used in an inflated state) manufactured by Optiparts (item EX2600), or a sealed empty one gallon plastic bottle raised to the masthead. Alternative devices may be acceptable, however it will be the responsibility of the sailor to demonstrate that the alternate device has at least the same buoyancy as either of the devices mentioned above. The penalty for violating this rule is disqualification (DSQ) from each race sailed with substandard floatation." MAYRA host Clubs WILL be inspecting all C420s to ensure that they are within the regulations specified above.
