About Event

These classes will feature on the water sailing training at the Lake Lanier Sailing Club designed to help you develop sailing skills. There are 2 choices of classes to fit anyone’s needs. These are open class to the Atlanta sailing community to foster growth and education in our sport, LLSC membership is not required. All classes will be taught in the Flying Scot sailboat - which is a 19’ cruiser/racer sailboat that offers variety of options to learn to sail or for the more avid one design racer.     Class #1 – Adult Sailing 101 

    Want to start your path to sailing as a sport, need a refresher course or just want to refresh your basic skills – this is the class for you. Taught by Level I certified US Sailing coaches, this class will offer you the basic skills to get off the dock, sailing safely and confidently in a variety of conditions, while returning to the dock safely. Each class is designed to be 3 hours long with 2+ hours on the water and~ 45 minutes of rigging, chalk talk and de-rigging. Class Schedule: 
    • May 7 (2-5pm) 
    • May 28 (2-5pm) 
    • June 4 (2-5pm) 
    • June 25 (2-5pm) 
    • July 10 (2-5pm) 
    • July 24 (2-5pm) 
    • More dates to be added for August- October
    Fees: Members $40, Non-members $80 payable at class, LLSC Jr. Program Must register online as spots are limited to 6. Bring a life jacket, water bottle and clothes for sailing.     Class #2 –WWW Sailing (Wind, Water and Women) 

    This class is designed as an entry point to fun sailing with the ladies. We encourage all levels to participate and come have fun with female instructors on the boats. The focus will be learning terminology, getting comfortable with the basics and taking it one step at a time. Camaraderie, safety and fun will be the focus. Class Schedule: 
    • May 15 (2-5pm) 
    • June 11,(2-5pm) 
    • July 16 (2-5pm) 
    • More dates will be added during the year
