BLUE MOON, a Beneteau Oceanis 48, has requested a ruling regarding her roller-furling, overlapping jib set on a removable forestay apparatus, separate from the permanent roller-furling forestay and whether it conforms to the requirements of SI 1.8 and 1.9 for eligibility in the Non-Spinnaker Division.
Whereas the subject sail is approved, defined and rated as a standard overlapping jib by the GYA-PHRF, the Organizing Authority has determined that it conforms to the static requirements of SI 1.8 and 1.9. However, the subject sail must also conform to the further requirement that it not be "set or flown to simulate" a free-flying, spinnaker-like sail. It remains the obligation of the competitor to set and fly this sail in a manner that does not violate this requirement.
With the requirements stated herein, BLUE MOON's entry in the Non-Spinnaker Division is confirmed.
