Junior Olympic Sailing Festival : Grosse Pointe Yacht Club

About Event

We are proud to host this event, as part of a nationwide series of sailing regattas for youth ages 8 to 21. Each event in this family of regattas is hosted by a different club or organization, but all events share a common goal: to encourage young sailors to enjoy sailing and to develop their skill. Events mix Olympic-style competition with elements of learning and fun for all levels--from beginning racers to those with Olympic aspirations. Events are planned for waters in the continental United States and Hawaii and over 4,000 sailors are expected to compete. Junior Olympic Sailing is coordinated by US Sailing and sponsored nationally by New England Ropes, Gill and Sperry Top-Sider. Additionally the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club Junior Olympic Sailing Festival is also supported by the Grosse Pointe Youth Nautical Education Foundation and Mike's Marine Supply. Fun Free Friday (FFF) Events - Why come to the Optional FFF Events? You will get registering out of the way early, some extra practice, a premo spot for your boat storage, an "All You Can Eat Taco Bar" dinner, and a mind blowing presentation by one of the greatest sailors of all time! (GPYC's very own Wally Cross, of course). If you plan on attending FFF events, please RSVP with how many guests to Kelley Vreeken @ kvreeken@mac.com. Green Fleet Clinegatta - Amy Gross-Kehoe runs a fun and informative Clinegatta - Clinic and Regatta rolled into a 2-day event where Green Fleeters will get customized coaching designed to raise them to the next level of sailing competency, while having fun with their peers!
