2017 LNKC Icicle Series : Safe Harbor Peninsula Yacht Club

About Event

Ice Cube SailingThe 2017 LNKC Icicle Series is a lake wide PHRF sailing competition held in benefit of the
Lake Norman Keelboat Council that promotes and supports sailing on Lake Norman. The event is managed and hosted this year by the Peninsula Yacht Club (PYC). Cooler temperatures and more consistent winds make this a very competitive event. Though it is called the Icicle Series we don't race if it's too cold. This is a great series to maintain your competitive edge during the winter months.

News & Notices

  • Mar 03, 2017 20:26 EST

Notice to competitors for Saturday March 4th races: The wind forecast during the race period is not very encouraging, especially since it will be cold just sitting in the water. My intentions are to send the mark boat out to the course around 9-9:30am to access wind conditions. If it does not appear that conditions are favorable, I will signal a postponement at the PYC flag pole and make an announcement on channel 71. If the postponement goes into effect, the RC will assess wind conditions until noon to see if a race can be held. At noon, all races will be abandoned if wind is not favorable. Signals will be made ashore at PYC flag pole and announced over channel 71. As a safety note, there is a frost/ice advisory for early morning hours. Please be cautious of slippery decks. Keep your fingers crossed for some wind!! John John Kosicki PRO/ PYC Race Committee ...
