The pursuit regatta provides a fun way for those new to sailboat racing to get started. The key difference with a Pursuit Style format is that the boat with the highest PHRF rating (theoretically slowest) starts first, and the boat with the lowest PHRF (theoretically fastest) starts last. The intention is to overtake the boats in front of you to cross the finish before them. Scoring is based by order of boats crossing the finish line. The staggered start eliminates the normal stress of a group start across the line, and makes the chase fun. A printable Entry Form for mailing with a check is available under "Race Documents".
