For those new to sailing this is a 36-hour, 5-day course, maximum student-teacher ratio of 8-1, course materials should be studied before class. Held on the club’s J/22s. Learn to rig, depart and return to dock, pilot and basic navigation, sail close-hauled, beam and broad reach and run before the wind. Sailors become proficient in tacking and jibing to change course. 7 Basic knots, cleating and tying off a boat making it fast to the mooring and dock. Cover weather prediction and emergencies, radio protocol, anchoring. Upon successful completion sailor will be deemed qualified to rent a small sailboat (under 30') from most any yacht charter or sailing school in the US. 1 Year US Sailing membership included.
