The POP UP Series is intended to be an opportunity for racers to compete when the wind conditions are steady and favorable. Due to the possibility of extreme sailing conditions, the series is focused on experienced Sport Boat, Traditional Spinnaker and Non Spinnaker Classes. PYC RC will monitor predicted wind conditions on Lake Norman and identify days when wind speed will be at least a minimum sustained 7 Knots (8.05 MPH). 48 hours prior to a potential race, a “call to race” email will be sent to all registered participants with the proposed date. First warning will always be at 1825 to accommodate as many as possible. All participants will be required to “commit to race” NLT 1700 on the night preceding race day. This will be done via email to the PYC Race Committee. No later than 1800 on the night preceding the race day, an email will be sent to all registered participants with either a “green light” message to go, or a “red light” message to cancel. Status will also be posted on Regatta Net Work. We will use Regatta Net Work as the official registration and communications page. There will be no fees to participate in these races.
