The Mercury Mentor Program is for beginning sailors ages 5-7 years old who want to get acquainted with the water! Mercury Mentors takes place during the Summer, Fall and Spring programs, so this is our only real year-round program. We have a full array of curriculum which starts with water awareness and swim testing, safety and most importantly sailing and fun sailing games! The Mercury Mentor program uses LYC provided 15′ Mercury sailboats that fit multiple young sailors along with an instructor while they sail in the Stranahan River basin right in front of LYC! This is meant to be a stress free environment that helps young sailors feel safe on the water leading into a life of watersport activities. Mercury Mentors is the beginning path to Opti sailing at LYC. Once a Mercury sailor reaches age 8 it's time to move into Optis! Mercury Mentor II program in the Spring introduces Mercury Mentors to the Opti to get them ready for the move up. Thank you for registering for the Mercury Mentor Program at LYC!
