Ahoy Sailors from surrounding lakes, Ocala Sailing Club is hosting the 2019 Lake Weir Invitational and 15th Annual Harpoon Nationals Regatta on April 6-7, 2019! We have enjoyed Harpoons from far off places in years past who have traveled to joined us in our annual Harpoon National Event. We also take this opportunity to invite sailors from around the greater area to sail with us in various classes that we create depending on the participants. This year water levels are really good for Catalina 22’s and San Juans which can be easily launched at Carney Island Park Ramp across the lake. Smaller boats like Harpoons and catamarans, etc can launch from the beach that is on our event site, the Kiwanis Beach at Weirsdale on Lake Weir. There is an abundance of beach for the launching on site for the lighter boats and it is convenient to where the weekend activities will take place including our on-location Saturday Dinner and Raffle Prizes event. Boats can remain overnight on the beach for the Sunday races. Friday night there will be a gathering at Gator Joe’s located on the water at Lake Weir in Ocklawaha at 6 pm (pay your own way). Join us for the great view of the Sunset! Saturday morning starting at 9-10 am, coffee and donuts will be available and registration sign in will be open, be sure to sign in and pay your entry if you haven’t paid on-line in advance. There is an early registration discount of $10 off of the $70 boat cost if you register on-line before March 28th. The skipper’s dinner is included and additional dinners can be bought for $15 each (be sure to do that online in advance). The Event is over Sunday afternoon after the Trophy awards.
