The Bayside Sailing Club serves novice and experienced sailors alike. We have had the pleasure of promoting the love for sailing in the Rowlett, Garland and extended Dallas areas.
Two years ago our Commodore, Bob Barnes, re-organized our club into a well operating non-profit with the focus to promote the sport and enjoyment of sailing. Welcoming all newcomers with open arms and a friendly smile, he was the reason for countless new sailors on our beautiful Lake Ray Hubbard. He was the foundation of our club until his passing in the summer of 2018.
On June 15, 2019 we are hosting the Bob Barnes Memorial Regatta to honor Mr. Barnes for all he did in his community (he served the Region 10 school system for 20 years), his country (he served in the Army) and on the lake.
This one-day regatta will be equal race and celebration. Once the on-water portion of the day is concluded the event will move on-land where participants can enjoy walking vendor booths, listening to the live band and eating the delicious catered dinner.
