DYSA SUNDAY Spring 2023 sailing classes will be offered February 26, 2022 thru May 7, 2023. Please read class descriptions below in Read More. Payment for the Spring 2023 session is DUE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION.  Any registration not paid will be put on the WAITLIST.  Please note: DYSA may change time of class and/or your child's class selection based on student's ability as determined by the coaches. Class size is limited. >PARENT VOLUNTEETS: Effective February 2023, parent participation will be assigned. Parents of registered students will be notified by the Assistant Voluteer Coordinator of the dates during the Spring 2023 classes that they will be expected to participate<      

   CLASS DESCRIPTIONS: 
   (1) EXPLORING SAILING (OPPIs): For all new to sailing or in need of more experience, this class explores the art of sailing through hands on experiences with a focus on developing a love for the lifelong sport o(f sailing. Youth sailors will become familiar with rigging the sailboat, points of sail, wind direction and water safety. This class is for beginners and returning sailors as determined by their coach. Ages 8 to 14. Time: 1:00pm-4:00pm
    (2) EXPLORING GREEN FLEET: Newer sailors that wish to hone their skipper skills. This class builds on the basics previously learned. Perfect for returning sailors. Prerequisite: Must be comfortable sailing upwind and have sailed previously with DYSA**. Ages 8 to 14 Time 9a-12:00p
   (3) GREEN FLEET SKIPPERS (IODs): Emphasis on the racing rules of sailing. Prerequisite: must be comfortable sailing upwind and have sailed previously with DYSA**. May have the opportunity to travel to local race(s) within the session. Ages 8 to 14. Time 1p-4:30p 
   (4) DOUBLE HANDED SEAMANSHIP (420s): Learn to handle larger boats and work as a team.  ALSO to work on solo sailing skills and wind direction, Windsurfing will also included as a part of the class (parent will be required to sign a separate acknowledgment to accept or decline Winsurfing). For sailors 7th grade and up and weight over 100 lbs. Some experience preferred. Time 1p-4:30p. 
 
    Students in High School should also consider the High School Practice Program Sunday mornings and/or Wednesday afternoons. HS Practice under separate registration. 
      
   *any new registration (not a current student) completed prior to January 1, 2023 will be moved to waitlist and be responsible for any registration fee not paid for new registrant.
 
  **child will be placed in class appropriate to ability to complete swim test and their sailing ability.
