The Rock Lake venue is a real gem. It’s been CRAW’s season opener for many years now. It’s perfect for that. The expanse of open and shaded lawns, and a long deep beach provides a lot of room to spread out to get organized and rigged for the first time. It’s a pre-season swimming beach, so the depth of the spring fed, crystal clear, and undisturbed water it’s perfectly graduated. And, even another perfect, the beach is on the southern shore accommodating the prevailing winds to ease an unprepared return to shore.
This event will have a non spinnaker class. This will be part of a four event series for sailors who would like to have a class without spinnakers.
Want more? Well, you’re welcome to park your RV and campers in the lot with no additional fee. Tent camping too. There are beach volleyball courts, playground equipment, nice bathrooms, and a shelter. Saturday’s dinner will be a potluck, with a main dish of pizza (provided from Timber Creek Pizza).
The city is located on I-94 center between Milwaukee and Madison. Its downtown square is quiet and a bit quaint, with a number of good independent restaurants serving a variety of cuisine.
While any venue is good as long as you’re racing and celebrating family and friendships, Rock Lake really provides many of the extra nice touches. Please come and enjoy it with us!
