Lake City will boast a racing area that is 2+ miles in diameter, 30′ deep with a flat bottom nearly shore-to-shore with a near zero current. Lake Pepin is a natural lake created by the Chippewa River, having spilled in miles of Wisconsin sand to the south. Perfect for racing!
The beach/parking access will be at Lake City’s downtown Ohuta Beach (219 Park Street Lake City, MN). This is at the north side of the city’s marina & club house facilities. Boat set up and sailing will take place here. All boats and trailers can remain at the park for the weekend. The marina is reserving the parking needed for the event, including an adjacent oversized area for the RVs. (The space was remodeled in 2021 so there is no birds-eye view available at this time.) The marina’s facilities (bathrooms/showers) are available for use during our event.
The Lake City Yacht Club is going to equip and staff all Race Committee for the weekend. This means CRAW will NOT need to bring any RC boats, equipment or staff. All racing will occur in the larger pool just south of the point off the beach.
Camping for the weekend has been reserved at the Lake Pepin Campground (1818 N High Street Lake City, MN), which is a 1/2 mile north of the beach. There are 6 large RV slips with full hookups and 5 tent sites reserved for CRAW. Tent camping will now be up top, away from the highway. ALL UNCLAIMED SPACES WILL BE RELEASED BY JUNE 1ST; be sure to sign up on the sign up form when required. Members will then be on their own to secure reservations. RV slips with full hookups are $45/night and tent sites are $35/night. If you wish to for-go camping, there is an AmericInn nearby. Click here to be brought to their website.
Saturday evening’s dinner will be catered by the LCYC at their indoor/outdoor social areas of the marina. This will be a social event as LCYC members will be joining CRAW for dinner. The registration fee includes the Saturday evening dinner for all competitors.
We hope you can join us at this new venue in our schedule!
This regatta is part of the non-spinnaker fleet series.
Wait there is more....Join us on Friday afternoon for the Pickle Factory Raid. We'll make the run eight miles down to The Pickle Factory Bar/Grill on the Wisconsin side. Once there you'll have the mind-bendy experience of touring the whole farm-to-table pickle production process involving brine, enzymes, and Ph levels. Your mind is already bent? Or, you're not intellectually interested about the three P's? No problem...they have a sandwich called The A-porkalypse with cheese curds right on it and they make one wicked top-shelf Bloody Mary!
Some gear and stuffs can be thrown on your friendly host's boat for the trip down. The Pickle Raid is an informal social thing without a registration.
