    Addendum to Notice of Race

    Parking: After dropping the racer's Opti, sails and blade bag, cars may be parked up the hill from Stone Horse at Christ Church on the corner of Main Street (Rt. 28) and Harbor Road. Trailers must be parked a short, 5 minute walk away, at BackOffice Associates, 710 Main Street (Rt. 28) Harwich Port.

    Motor Boat Launch: All motor boats, including Coach Boats, must be launched from Saquatucket Harbor, 715 Main Street (Rt. 28) Harwich Port. Please note Saquatucket Harbor is directly across from the trailer parking at BackOffice Associates.

    Notice of Race 17th Annual Stone Horse Yacht Club Opti x-treme Regatta Monday, July16, 2012 1. Rules 1.1 The event organizer and host is the Stone Horse Yacht Club. The Regatta will be held at the Stone Horse Yacht Club, 2 Harbor Road, Harwich Port, MA, 02646. 1.2 The regatta will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the Optimist Class rules, this Notice of Race, and by the Sailing Instructions and any posted amendments to the Sailing Instructions. 2. Eligibility and Entry 2.1 There will be a Championship Fleet and a Green Fleet. 2.2 The Championship Fleet will be divided into three groups according to the ages of the competitors on July 22, 2012, as follows: White Fleet: 10 years old or younger. Blue Fleet: 11 or 12 years old. Red Fleet: 13 years old or older and shall not have reached their 16th birthday in the current calendar year. 2.3 The Green Fleet is intended for novice racers. 2.4 Provided there are 4 or more races in this series then participation in this regatta qualifies for the SMSA Sailing Optimist Championship (aka SMSA Optimist Gran Prix). However, one race can constitute the series for local scoring only. 2.5 Please pre-register online by July 14, 2012. Pre-registration is via the Stone Horse Yacht Club/Regatta Network website. 2.6 All participants must submit a medical form. Please submit a signed medical form at the registration desk on the day of the regatta. These forms are available from our website www.stonehorseyachtclub.org or at the registration desk. 2.7 The pre-registration entry fee is $45.00 (includes t-shirt, lunch and post race refreshments). 2.8 Registrations will be accepted on the day of the race, but the fee will be $50. Please make checks payable to Stone Horse Yacht Club. 2.9 Refunds will be provided if requested no later than two (2) days prior to the day of regatta. 3. Designated Adult 3.1 Each competitor shall indicate in writing a parent or adult representative who shall be responsible for the competitor throughout the event. 3.2 The designated adult is responsible for the competitor's decision to enter the regatta and to start or continue any race. The adults supervising the competitors are ultimately responsible for the risks. This risk includes ensuring that the competitor wears appropriate clothing and be equipped with proper safety equipment. 3.3 The designated adult will accept full responsibility for all actions of the competitor during any activity related to the event. This includes on-shore activities before, during, and after the regatta. 4. Schedule of Events Check-in/Arrival: 0730-0830 Last Warning Signal: No later than 1530 Skippers Meeting: 0900 BBQ and Awards: Post-Racing Harbor Start: 0930 (All Fleets) Registration Fee: $45 ($50 on day of) SHYC snack bar will be open - cash only 5. Postponement 5.1 In the event of unsafe weather conditions, the Regatta will be postponed to Friday, July 20, 2012. Pre-registered participants will be notified of postponement by email no later than 2000 hours on Sunday, July 15, 2012 6. Safety 6.1 Competitors shall comply with requests for safety checks on and off the water. 6.2 All competitors must comply with the Safety Check-in/out system described in the sailing instructions. When leaving the race course, or retiring, competitors must notify an official Race Committee boat or designated patrol boat. 6.3 Each competitor is required to have two (2) bailers secured to his or her boat at all times. 7. Sailing Instructions 7.1 The sailing instructions will be available at check in. 7.2 Any amendments to the sailing instructions will be posted on the notice board in the SHYC clubhouse prior to the 0900 on July 16, 2012. 8. Support Boats 8.1 All support boats must stay clear of the race course at all times, and must follow any instructions of the Race Committee or designated patrol boats. 9. Scoring 9.1 The Low-Point Scoring System will be used. 10. Awards 10.1 All Green Fleet participants will receive participation medals. 10.2 Championship fleet trophies will be awarded first through third overall. There will also be trophies for first through fifth in each Championship fleet (white/blue/red). 11.
