    RACERS: Note an obstruction to look for when entering the harbor in the dark. SOLOMONS HARBOR – MARINE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT Mariners are advised that a bulkhead replacement project is scheduled to occur in Solomons Harbor from July 7, 2014 through October 31, 2014, Monday through Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The project is located along the University of Maryland Biological Laboratory Research Fleet Operations bulkhead at Solomons Island, MD. Two work barges will be placed abreast along the northeast side of the bulkhead, in approximate position latitude 38°19’12.84” N, longitude 076°27’05.70” W. The barges will remain in position at all times and will be lighted at night. The waterway is expected to be restricted approximately 100 feet. Mariners are urged to use caution when transiting the area. Charts 12264, 12284. ...

    New this year is the Corinthian Cruising class. Asymmetrical spinnakers, tacked at the bow, are permitted, however spinnaker poles are not allowed. 

     
    Beneteau America will award prizes to the top 3 Beneteaus in the Cruising or Corinthian Class, and the top three Beneteaus in the Handicap Classes. At the end of the year Beneteau America will award prizes to the overall winners of the Cruising/Corinthian Class and Handicap Classes. In order to qualify for the Beneteau Cup covering performance in a series of four Chesapeake Bay races which began with the Miles River Race in May, a valid PHRF certificate is required.
     
    For the purposes of the Solomons Race only, however, sailors may request a courtesy rating; contact race.committee@eastportyc.org.

    raceQs - Race Tracks EYC has created an account at the raceQs website for this event. We are asking all Solomons Race competitors to [1] download the free smartphone app, [2] enable it during the race (make sure you turn OFF the live streaming function), then [3] join us at the Awards Party on July 26. Through raceQs, you will be able to re-live the sailing adventures of your boat & your competitors' with animated replay of the race down the bay. You don't need any special equipment to get started, just a GPS or a smart phone. It's free and won't broadcast your position during the race. More details will be provided in the Skippers' Package. ...
