LUV to Sail and Enjoy Team FUN I have raced, cruised, and delivered sailboats almost all of my life. I have been trained on boat handling and the major evolutions such as tacks, spin sets, jibes, takedowns, mark rounding, starting line maneuvers, straight line boat speed and sail trim. I have some experience on blue water (Caribbean, Atlantic, and South Pacific Oceans), river (Potomac including an intimate knowledge of water depth on the Potomac near DC), Magothy, West, Severn), sound (Long Island), bay (Chesapeake) and lake (the Great Lakes, Lake George) etc., on everything from schooners to sloops and in sizes up to a 54 foot catamaran. My favorite race was the Trans Superior, where the lake has its own weather system and the water warms up to a sweltering 39 degrees Fahrenheit in August. But I must say that the Auroras Borealis at night was breathtaking. (I did take a brief dip in Lake Superior but at the lake’s edge where the sun actually warmed the 5 feet of water depth not near the average 1300 foot depth.) My favorite position is at the helm where my team skills shine, but I understand that many boat owners may reserve this for themselves.
