A beautiful day turned into a beautiful evening for yacht racing. The breeze was up a bit, maybe 8 kts due south. Waited for the veering shift and it came but velocity went down. Announcing a long course, twice around, was likely met with skepticism. Started anyway and a fierce right to left eddy made starboard pretty much impossible at the start. The fleets figured it out and got over the line on port, a huge current lift! A few minutes after the second start the breeze freshened enough to take over. The fresh breeze held. 17 boats came. All started, all finished. It was great!
