16:00 on the last J24 Thursday for '23 brought hot and steamy sunshine with a nice light, almost moderate, steady ESE on little waves showing a touch of white here and there. It held past 16:30. A twice around is looking good. NOT SO FAST! Breeze shut right down around 17:00. The search was on. With the SE gone, teasers from all directions frustrated. The usual chase to the south ensued, new breeze teasers here and there but nothing usable. Finally RC camped within a half mile of GB, and waited. At literally the last possible minute a very light but steady enough southerly showed. A quick line was set, GB the windward mark and back. Got it off! 13 boats started. 13 kites finished then ran off into the sunset. 15 boats registered with almost that many racing every night is big time these days. Congratulations Fleet 139!
