Sunshine, flat water, and a light southeasterly seemed to hold so a simple up and down was called. But just as the start sequence began, so did the shift. Little by slow a huge lefty came in creating a drag race for the downwind finish leg. 14 boats were on the line, the most in years. Blue Scoop got the gun.
