Enrollments are granted in the order that completed forms. If classes are full, you will be automatically placed on the waiting list. You will then have the option of enrolling if dropouts occur.

Please note that, assuming classes go forward and are not cancelled due to Covid 19 factors, we will not refund for individually missed classes. On ‘No Sail Days’ where conditions are not conducive to sailing because of unfavorable weather, no wind, etc. the instructors will organize appropriate on-water, virtual or on-land activities with proper social distancing and sanitation measures taken into account.  If the weather forecasts suggest heavy rains/winds that would prevent safe sailing or other on land activities and require the sailors to meet in close proximity under covered structures, ASHEP will send a notice out to cancel or delay a class. If we are able to make this call prior to class starting, we will ask that the sailors do not show up at all or until a certain time.  Similarly, if weather conditions unexpectedly deteriorate after a session has started, we will notify all parents/guardians requesting them to immediately pick up their sailor(s).

Parents should also note that children must be comfortable with water activities and pass a swim test on the first day of class.

MANDATORY PARENT ORIENTATION SESSION: Because various modifications have been made to AHSEP's program to adhere to covid 19 related safety rules and guidelines, AHSEP hosted a mandatory virtual zoom meeting for parents/guardians on Monday, June 29th at 7:30 PM. In that meeting we discussed in detail the actions that will be required by sailors and their parents/guardians in order to participate in AHSEP this summer.   If you are registering after the date of that Orientation, you will receive a link where you can review a recording of that meeting as well as additional forms that need to be completed and signed by you.  Please review the recording and materials carefully to make sure that you are able to comply with all the new requirements put in place.

For class, each student should come dressed appropriately for the weather, assuming they will get wet. Each student must bring, to every class:

· USCG approved Type II or Type III Lifejacket (Sized for your child)

· Refillable Water Bottle (Students can refill their water bottle through our on site filtration system).

· Boat Shoes, Water Shoes, or Sneakers Mandatory (No sandals, ”Teva’s”,” flip-flops”, or other open toed shoes that may fall off or risk foot injury.)

- Face covering/buff/mask:  This summer we will be requiring the sailors and instructors to wear a face covering while on land where they cannot maintain proper social distancing.  Wearing a mask on the water when sailing solo and maintaining social distancing will be optional and parents/guardians are asked to instruct and employ whatever practices they are comfortable with for their particular sailor.  We ask that, whatever face covering you use that it is uniquely identifiable by the sailor and kept on the sailor at all times so as to minimize the risk of children mistakenly wearing someone else's mask.  Similarly, we ask that the masks be not paper masks, as there is a likelihood that a mask may get wet and we believe paper masks will deteriorate in such a scenario.

Recommended Items to Increase Comfort:

· Sunblock

· Towel

· Hat with visor

· Sunglasses

· Jacket for cool days (It sometimes can be cooler on the water than at your house.)
