The Board of Directors of Edison Sailing Center is pleased to invite families of youth sailors to become members of the organization. In prior years we have offered youth memberships only. The Board of Directors has restructured the membership policy to promote a community of sailors and non-sailors who share common interests in activities centered on our river, Gulf, and waterways.

Membership fees:

  • High School 420 - $200 for ten weeks
  • School year program - $325 for first child, $200 for each sibling

What does a membership include?

  • The membership fee includes the use of a designated ESC sailboat and equipment assigned to each youth member in the Optimist, Laser, &/or Club420 classes. (Club420 is not the same program as the High School 420 program). Youth sailors participating in the High School 420 program will use the Vanguard fleet for weekly practice. These boats are not assigned. Club420 sailors will be assigned a boat.
  • Boats (Optis, Lasers, Club420) & equipment are assigned based on sailor’s skill development and level of active participation. Those who do not attend regularly may use a designated “club” boat and equipment. Attendance is recorded weekly.
  • Membership includes coaching during the week and open sailing on Saturdays: half day or full day, and most activities scheduled in the master calendar.

What does membership in ESC require?

  • All new & returning families, including High School/420 sailors and families, are required to read ESC’s revised Policies & Procedures with their participating sailor(s), complete the signature page and return to Stephanie Webb electronically ( or by mail. This document will be emailed to new & returning families. Even if you are a long-time member, it is always good to review the rules and procedures of your organization. A detailed explanation of membership – benefits, and responsibilities – is provided in the organization’s Policies & Procedures.
  • Each family (parent & sailor ) will support ESC’s Mission & Vision through volunteering each semester. Adults have a variety of ways to complete their volunteer hours. Parents whose schedules do not permit opportunities to volunteer may waive that requirement with a donation of $100.  Youth members may satisfy their volunteer hours through any of the leadership opportunities outlined in the Youth Leadership Development program and/or support on an Outreach day with one or more of the agencies ESC partners with.
  • Breakage and Loss beyond “normal wear and tear” is the responsibility of the sailor/family for items assigned to the sailor. General maintenance is the responsibility of the sailor. All damages and repairs are to be reported to Mike Burby, Operations Director.

Please note: at no time is any sailor permitted to remove equipment, sails or other gear from another boat.

Questions regarding memberships and parent issues, training, and events may be addressed to Stephanie Webb at Questions pertaining to the organization may be addressed to the President of the Board of Directors using the outlook address. ESC may be closed some Saturdays (please check the monthly calendars for updates).

ESC is a 501c3 corporation not for profit and is a registered Charitable Organization in the State of Florida.
