Registration for Jackson Yacht Club : 2026 Spring Sailing Programs

Students need to be registered by the student's first practice and paid by the second practice. To guarentee a spot in the session, please submit payment immediately after registration. Registrations and payments officially close March 13th or when classes are full.

Practice (4-6pm) and Regatta Dates:

Tuesdays "High School": Jackson Prep Grades 8-12/Jackson Cooperative (homeschool & non-affiants) Grades 8-12. Practice begins February 24th. Last practice is April 21st.
Wednesdays "High School": Madison Public Schools Grades 8-12/St. Andrew's Grades 8-12. Practice begins February 25th. Last practice is April 22nd.
Thursdays "Middle School": Jackson Cooperative Grades 5-7th/St. Andrew's Grades 5th-7th/Jackson Prep Grades 5-7th. Practice begins February 26th. Last practice is April 9th.

High school students will sail in C420s, and middle school students will sail Optimists. All schools will sail in Regattas. For grades 8-12th, mark your calendar for April 18th and 19th as this will be an weekend all day fun event! 5-7th grade will have a seperate regatta on April 11th. Students that do not attend at least 4 high school practices or 3 middle school practices may not be eligable to compete in regattas. Regatta dates will be released soon.

Please note we will not have practice during the week of March 9th due to Spring Break.

Mandatory requirements for participation:
1. Need to be between the correct grade of class requirements
2. Need to be able to swim in a lifejacket. If a participant cannot swim to satisfaction of instructors, they will be asked not to participate in practice and a refund will be granted.
3. Need to supply a lifejacket, U.S.C.G. approved
4. Need to wear lifejacket at all times on the water
5. No open toed shoes or flip-flops

What to Bring to Practice: Students should bring a lifejacket, water bottle (the Sailing Center has a water bottle filler) and sunblock to each practice. For rainy days, a rain jacket/pants or sailing bibs are helpful. Closed toed shoes (old tennis shoes which can get wet) make great footwear.

Teacher Sponsors: For each School, we have a "Teacher Sponsor" who will participate in each practice and the Regatta.

Class Sizes/Weather Information:

Optis: 6-18 students
Club 420s: 6-16 students

If a class doesn't meet the minimum, parents will be notified with the choice of a refund or signing up for another practice if there is availability.

Since sailing is a weather dependent sport, there will likely be practices that are moved around. The practice day is tentative on the weather.

Payment/Refunds: The registration fee is $290 for high school and $260 for middle school. Please click "Express Checkout" on the "Checkout and Payment" page of registration. Payment can be collected through credit card on this website, check (written to Jackson Yacht Club) mailed to Jackson Yacht Club 700 Yacht Club Road Ridgeland, MS 39157 or given to a coach, and charged to member accounts for members of the Jackson Yacht Club. Please note: the institution of St. Andrew's Episcopal School is covering part of the fees for their students.

50% refunds may be issued before or on March 9th. Refunds will not be issued after March 9th. Refunds issued will not include Regatta Network fees.

Scholarships:

The Jackson Yacht Club Foundation (JYCF) has a limited number of class scholarships for those in need. JYCF considers applications on a case-by-case basis, and scholarships are subject to the availability of budgeted funds. Applications must be completed before the first practice.
