1. Rules

The race will be governed by the Rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing, SOS-TEX Bylaws, this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions. SOS-TEX Bylaws are available at:

Autopilot and/or wind-powered self-steering gear are allowed. This modifies RRS 52.

2. Eligibility

This regatta is open to all single or double-handed yachts with a 2009 Galveston Bay PHRF certificate.  Single and double-handed divisions will be formed in accordance with SOS-TEX bylaws.  At least one crew member must be 18 years of age or older.  A copy of the 2009 PHRF certificate must be delivered to the Race Committee prior to the start of the race for a yacht to be eligible.

3. Race Area/Course

The racing area will be Galveston Bay.  A variety of courses may be set around various marks.  It is the intention of the Race Committee to set a course which requires racers to make three separate laps around fixed and RC dropped marks which may be made in any order.  The course is planned to be approximately 22nm.

4. Entries

Competitors may enter online at http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.html  The entry fee is $45.00 with a $5.00 discount for US Sailing members.

The deadline for entries is March 20, 2009.  Entries received after March 17, 2009 will be subject to a $10.00 late fee.

Entry fees will be refunded upon request if the entry is withdrawn prior to the entry deadline.

5. Notices to Competitors

Notices to Competitors will be posted at:  http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.html   Notices regarding Protests will also be posted on the door of the GBCA office.

6. Sailing Instructions

Sailing Instructions will be made available at:  http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.html from a link on the Official Notice Board.  Questions regarding the Sailing Instructions may be transmitted via e-mail to kevinbox@uescontrols.com  Responses will be posted on the Official Notice Board.

7. Schedule of Events

Saturday, March 21 – First warning signal: not before 1000 hours.

Awards and Post-Race Party at the GBCA Office, following racing.
