Notice Of Race

1. Rules:

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2009-2012 Racing Rules of Sailing, the Sailing Instructions and this Notice of Race.

2. Eligibility

This regatta is open to all keelboats with a valid Galveston Bay PHRF certificate. PHRF certificates may be uploaded during registration in PDF, Jpeg, or Gif format.

3. Location

The regatta headquarters will be the Galveston Yacht Basin. Space will be available for docking/rafting boats on the transient pier. To arrange for a private slip during the regatta, contact Rita Higgings at 409-762-9689

4. Race Area/Courses

The racing area will be Bolivar Roads and the Gulf of Mexico. A variety of offshore courses will be set around platforms and Race Committee placed marks.

5. Entries

Competitors may enter online at: http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.html The entry fee is $175.00. US Sailing members will receive a $10.00 discount if their US Sailing member number is input during registration. Event passes are required to participate in post race activities on Thursday and Friday and the Awards Dinner on Saturday. Each entry includes two event passes. Additional passes will be available for $25.

Entries received after July 16 will be subject to a $25.00 late fee. Entry fees will be refunded if the entry is withdrawn prior to the entry deadline. The entry deadline is July 20, 2009.

6. Sailing Instructions

Sailing instructions will be available at the GBCA office after 1900 Friday, July 17. Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 0900 on the day it will take effect, except that any change to the schedule of races will be posted by 2000 on the day before it will take effect.

7. Notices to Competitors

The Official Notice Board will be online at http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/gbca.htm Notices regarding protests and race scheduling will also be posted at the palapa bar.

8. Schedule of Events

A competitors briefing will be held at the GBCA Office at 1900 Friday, July 17.

The warning signals for races are scheduled as follows:

   Thursday, July 23: not before 1100 hours.

   Friday, July 24: not before 1100 hours.

   Saturday, July 25: not before 1100 hours.

Daily Awards and Post-Race Happy Hour at Galveston Yacht Club palapa bar and pool area, Thursday and Friday, July 23 and 24, following racing. Post race activities will include beer, hors d'œuvre and a rum bar.

Trophy presentations and Awards Dinner 1800 Saturday, July 25 at the Galveston Yacht Club.
