30th Annual Ice Bucket Regatta : Lake Norman Yacht Club

About Event

What better way to spend New Year's Day?  Join us at LNYC for the first Lake Norman regatta of the year!  The Ice Bucket Regatta is sailed using a pursuit format, with a "civilized" break for lunch in the clubhouse.  The hot soup lunch was so popular last year, that we will be doing it again!  Several members have volunteered to make and bring hearty homemade soups--but more are welcome, if you'd like to bring your favorite!  For only $2.00 per person, you can enjoy one or more of them.  Served with an assortment of crusty breads and dessert.

The regatta is open to PHRF and one design centerboard and keel boats.

30 Boats participated in the 30th Annual Ice Bucket Regatta--what a great way to spend New Year's Day!  Although we had very light air, a good time was had by all.  Click here for a great write-up by competitor Bill Wiggins, along with photos provided by Bill Wiggins and Dave Safirstein.

Thanks to all the competitors, and to the many volunteers who served on race committee or made soup or bread!
