Learn-To-Sail
Prerequisites: None! This is our introductory, learn-to-sail class for sailors 8-14 year old.
Schedule:
- Session #1: June 21 – June 25
- Session #2: June 28 – July 3
- Session #3: July 5 – July 9
- Session #4: July 12 – July 16
Opti Development Team
The Optimist Development Team is meant to be a launchpad from the Learn to Sail class to the Racing Team. Sailors continue to build strong fundamentals such as; accurate steering, weight placement, sail trim, sailing on all points of sail and boat maintenance. Additionally, this class offers a light introduction to sailboat racing in a fun constructive manner! Sailors will spend their time “solo” in their Optimist.
Schedule: 9:00am - 12:00pm
- Session #1: July 19 – July 23
- Session #2: July 26 – July 30
Prerequisites: Completion of the MPYC Learn to Sail program or prior participation on the Opti Development Team. Alternatively, experience sailing in another program’s novice or intermediate sailing program would prepare you for the Opti Development team.
