Have you been racing lately? Think you can remember the feel of the helm, know the difference between port and starboard or tack and jibe or come up and come down? Then come on out and help us celebrate our 174th year of sailing by participating in the 2022 SYC Old Timers' Regatta on Saturday, May 7, 2022, even if you do not sail.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN ELIGIBILITY AGE CHANGES THIS YEAR: SKIPPERS MUST NOW BE 60 OR OVER. BUT, IF YOU ARE BETWEEN 50-59 AND HAVE SKIPPERED IN PRIOR SYC OLD TIMERS REGATTAS YOU ARE "GRAND-FATHERED" OR "GRAND-MOTHERED" IN! PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THE "GRAND MASTERS" DIVISION HAS BEEN CHANGED TO THE "SAILING LEGENDS" DIVISION, AND THE ELIGIBILITY AGE INCREASED TO 70 AND OLDER.

Beginning at 11:00 a.m., there will be a "Dutch-treat" brunch plus Bloody Mary’s, Milk Punch, etc., for all. Each registered skipper will be recognized and will receive one of our unique collector’s edition hats. Let’s see if we can get all skippers and crews, and many supporters at the brunch!!!

There will be trophy presentation as soon as possible following the racing. In addition to individual unique class trophies, other awards to be presented include the OLDEST PARTICIPATING SKIPPER; the MOST EXPERIENCED PARTICIPATING WOMAN SKIPPER; the MOST EXPERIENCED WINNING WOMAN SKIPPER; the overall OLDEST WINNING SKIPPER (who will also be presented the Aschaffenburg Perpetual Trophy; and, special “SAILING LEGENDS” AWARDS for the highest placing skipper age 70 or over in each participating class. 

Plan now to skipper a friend's boat or your own. If you prefer to sail in a particular class, the SYC office can provide you with the name of the Fleet Captain of that class who will help you arrange for a boat. Or, if you prefer, just leave your name with the SYC office and we will try to find a boat for you to sail! We really want to see all "OLD-TIMERS" out on the starting line for this event! Make plans early and join us for a fun day – even if you don’t sail!
