About Event

Join in the fun in the FREE race/cruise/party as we head to Margaritaville (Oriental)! Bring your Parrothead gear and water cannons, pistols, balloons (with appropriate launching devices) and prepare to attack and repel other Pirates of the Neuse (and take a few water shots yourself!). No boarding is permitted! GREAT NEWS FOR 2022 Parrothead Regatta The Town of Oriental is again officially rolling out the Red Carpet for all Parrothead racers. The Town has reserved Town Dock #2 (the one with the pumpout on it, near the Public Restroom) from July 23, 12 noon, until July 25, 12 noon.) No rafting is allowed on any of the docks. We're in the height of shrimp season, and rafting can get the boater blocked in by a trawler (we know a thing or two, because we've seen a thing or two) Other space is available at Town Dock #1 first come, first served, but will not be reserved for this event. Once tied up, sailors can dock for up to 48 hrs. Please use dock #2 first Limited Free DOCKAGE (no power available) for up to 24 hours Yes, this is a FREE Neuse River Race for all NC sailors, with a beginner friendly pursuit start beginning near marker #17 on the Neuse,(across from Fairfield Harbour), leaving #8 to port, then #1AC to port, and finishing at Oriental #1. It is open to all sailboats 20 feet or longer and will be governed by the rules defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing Those without a current NC-PHRF rating certificate (Arghh!!) will be assigned a rating by the Principal Race Officer (PRO). The scoring will be based on Time-on-Distance handicapping with each boat given a starting time at the skippers meeting. Awards will be given in each class as deemed appropriate by the Organizing Authority in its sole discretion. SCHEDULE: Saturday, July 23, 2022 9:30 AM Skipper's Meeting at BSC deck and via Zoom - link will be sent to registered sailors 10:55 AM First start sequence begins 4:00 PMish NYRA Raft-up/Dock Party & Awards at the Free Public Town Docks (see above) in Oriental.
