Team members ages 8-19 sail most Saturdays. Practice begins at 9:30 AM and following rigging and a team briefing, sailing begins at 10:45 AM. Boats are secured at 12:15 PM so that sailors can eat lunch (BYO), debrief regarding the first on-the-water session, and brief for the second sailing session, which begins at 1:00 PM The second sailing session ends in time to have the sailor put their boat away, debrief ,and depart by 3:30 PM. Team members sail Optis, O'Pen BICS, Lasers, and 420s. Practices include drills with our race coaches and experienced parents, group practices with other youth sailing clubs, local friendly competitions, and sometimes, just a fun day on the water. For those families that wish to participate, HYS competes in occasional out-of-town 1- and 2-day regattas. The cost is $300 for the entire season.
