AHSEP has acquired two keelboats for teaching youth. These boats will be used as training platforms to empower youth through hands on sailing education. The boats (bluesail 24 and a peterson 34) will be a dynamic classroom to teach students essential life skills and a lifelong respect for the water and world around them. Students will be part of a keelboat sailing team. They will be trained in the operation, navigation and tactical decisions necessary to safely participate in local sailing regattas and events. Students will be trained and responsible for all aspects of the boats, including sail trim, sail selection, crew selection and maintenance. Eligibility: Ages 12-18 Events: Practices (4 sessions) Wednesday night racing series at AHYC (8 evenings) Weekend racing series at AHYC (up to 5 events) Possibility of entering local regattas Staff oversight: Each vessel will have an adult coach/chaperone
