Mike Elovitz was a very good friend to CRA, providing his boats as race committee signal boats for many years. Prior to Dennis Conner's donation to CRA, securing the signal boats for each regatta and especially the Beer Can Series was a challenge. Convincing a power boat owner to place his precious yacht in the midst of a crowded group of sailors going every which way and coming very close is not that easy. Fortunately, Mike understood competition and comaraderie, being a successful predicted log racer and Commodore of the San Diego Cruiser Association.  He also understood the importance of and enjoyed being active in any way he could with the boating community.

 His boat, Lovit, was integral to the 2017 and 2018 CRA Beer Can Series. The race committee had to scramble up to reach the top deck of Lovit in order to be high enough to post the flags and see the length of the starting line. Mike had plans for a bigger boat and being accessible for a race committee was something he kept in the back of his mind when he went searching. 

Mike's new boat, Adventure, was a 70' Pacific Mariner. If you raced in the 2021 or 2022 Beer Can Series, you would remember the gorgeous Adventure, certainly the largest and most beautiful boat we ever used. The race committee utilized headsets so we could communicate with each other on the different levels of the boat! 

Mike was very generous with his boats and with his time. His cheerful disposition and high intelligence made him a joy to work with. We appreciate all that Mike and his wife, Judy, gave to CRA.
