2025 NYRA Cinco de Mayo Regatta (part of the Clark Cup One Design Series)

The Cinco de Mayo Regatta is a one design regatta offered for multiple one design classes
the Neuse Yacht Racing Association and Blackbeard Sailing Club are the organizing authorities
The 2025 Cinco de Mayo Regatta is a part of the Clark Cup One Design Series. The Clark Cup consists of 3 stand alone events: (1) The Cinco de Mayo Regatta (May 2-4); (2) The Blackbeard Summer One Design Regatta (June 7-8); and (3) The Blackbeard Gurganus Memorial One Design Regatta (August 23-24). Boats that compete in all 3 Regattas in a designated class are eligible to compete for their Class Series Championship and the overall Clark Cup One Design Series trophy; To constitute a Class there must be at least 3 registrants by the end of regular registration in each event.
Low point scoring as described in Appendix A of the RRS applies to each stand alone Regatta
Overall Series winners will be determined using the High Point System of Scoring based on all races in all events.
Race venue for all events is Blackbeard Sailing Club in New Bern, NC
Schedule of events
Friday:
5pm -7pm: Welcome shore party at picnic shelter
Saturday:
9:30 am - Competitors meeting - BSC Clubhouse deck
11:25 - First Signal for first class - Neuse River
5:30 pm - Shore party - BSC clubhouse and grounds-Limited cerveza and drinks for competitors
6:30 pm - Dinner at BSC Clubhouse, catered by Dank Burrito (separate charge)
Sunday:
10:25 am First Signal. More races to follow as conditions permit
Awards as soon as practical after racing
No races will be started after 1300
The Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing. All boats shall comply with N.C. Wildlife Commission and U.S. Coast Guard safety regulations.
Expected One-Design classes: SJ21 (all sails and working sails), Sunfish, FJs, Tanzer 16, c420s, Ensigns, Wayfarer, Thistle, Flying Scot, Isotope, Weta.
Competitors will race either in Broad Creek just off Blackbeard Sailing Club, or on the Neuse River just outside the mouth of Broad Creek. Multiple races are planned.
