As of 1830 on 8/30/24 we are looking like we are still all good for tomorrow. As you may well have seen, a broad low pressure system has developed just offshore of Galveston and is expected to meander over the next few days. However, weather models seem to be generally settling in on moderate easterly breezes with stronger winds around storms possible. Please stay apprised of weather conditions and make decisions as you feel are appropriate for your boat and crew. Also, please note that the latest NOAA coastal chart for the area no longer shows a private aid-to-navigation or structure at Mitchells Reef. Please refer to the Sailing Instructions for provisions if the mark is missing. There was a question regarding G11 recently being off station. The latest light list shows that mark G11 is still in approximately the location listed in the Sailing Instructions. The actual location of the buoy will be the basis of the start and finish lines. Lastly, although I said I would be in a red Jeep Wrangler on the shore, the gremlins have apparently attacked one of my wheel bearings. I will be in a white Toyota Sequoia instead. We will attempt to set a tetrahedron adjacent to the orange starting line flag to give a visual reference for the starting line.
