INSTRUCTIONS FOR RACERS: SYSCO One-Design Regatta – September 19th
DATES AND TIMES: Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 13:00 to 16:40.
REGISTRATION AND FEES: This is a SYSCO event and there are no fees for the regatta. Boats are asked to register through Regatta Network.
RACES: A series of 3-4 short races will be held with the normal racing area on the Columbia River. The first race will start around 13:05 with a starting sequence beginning at 13:00.
There will be 4 One-design fleets participating in the race and they will start as follows:
Pennant 1 – J-105
Pennant 2 – Melges 24
Pennant 3 – Merit 25
Pennant 4 – Cal- 20
The starting sequence will be 3 minutes between each start per Appendix U, the “Audible-Signal Racing System". Each fleet will have a separate start.
The expected courses will be:
J-105, Melges-24, courses 1-4-finish or 1-2-4-finish;
Merit 25, Cal-20, courses 1-3-finish, or 1-2-3-finish.
Both the starting and finish lines are restricted areas.
Since RC members are limited, all course notifications and instructions will be given over VHF channel 72.
SCORING: The One-Design Regatta will be scored on the basis of 1 pt for 1st, 2 pts for 2nd, etc. If there are 4 races, then 1 throw out race will be allowed.
PROTESTS: Protests are discouraged but may be lodged if absolutely necessary.
AWARDS: No awards, just bragging rights will be given.
