Race #1 - Notice To Competitors Posted on Apr 26, 2025 03:23 EST |
For those of you who are bringing young crew members in order to additionally compete for the youth awards, we'd like to remind you of the requirements to declare such crew to the race organizers:
- You have to notify the Race Committee at the start line that you have youths on board - for example, over the radio. Note at this point we're not looking for details.
- Seperately, the names and dates of birth of all youths on board for each race must be declared by the skipper to the Race organizers prior to the awards ceremony. Even if you don't finish we need this information.
We'll have a list back at the race deck at SYC clubhouse for skippers to add / correct young crew member information. Exact details are in the NOR & SI's'.For those of you interested in eyeing up the local youth sailing talent, you may be interested to know that we are intending to start a separate small-boat (FJs / Fevas) youth race from Mercury 15 minutes before the Twin Island race starts. Feel free to observe but please stay out of their way. Also, because of this you should ignore any signals from Mercury before midday - they aren't intended for Twin Island race competitors. The youngsters will be back at the club after racing finishes so you can sign them up as crew for future Twin Island races! As a reminder, after this first race we have hosted hors d'oeuvres and a "Tap Takeover" by the East Brother Brewery - named after another famous local island.
