There will be one start for this race with two one design classes, Martin 24 and J24. The Race Committee boats will be monitoring VHF channel 72 and make race announcements over that channel. This will include finishing information in the event of a shortened course. If there is no Committee Boat, the following modifies Rule 26 for starts (per 86.1(b): The Start will be a Rabbit Start as follows: 1. Kermit will be the designated start boat, the "Rabbit". All other boats shall stay downwind of the Rabbit prior to the start. The Rabbit rounds a designated starting mark at or just before the starting signal and starts sailing close-hauled on a port tack. 2. The starting line is defined on one end by the starting mark and on the other end by the aft-most point on the rabbit. All other boats cross this starting line on starboard tack and once across have started. 3. Once all of the other boats have started but no earlier than thirty (30) seconds after the starting signal, the Rabbit is free to tack to starboard if the skipper so wishes. 4. Boats that find themselves to windward and unable to cross behind the Rabbit as boats that did not start before the Rabbit tacks to starboard, will be considered OCS and must round the pin end of the starting line (keeping the mark to port) in order to counted as a starter. 5. Standard starting sequence sound signals will be used but NO signal flags will be displayed. Finishing: All boats are responsible for recording their finish time. Handouts may be distributed in the starting area prior to the start.
