Facts:
#259 Entered the zone on port tack approximately 1.5 boat lengths above port tack lay line, overlapped and inside #11. Her speed was 3-5 knots.
#11 entered the zone on starboard, on starboard lay line, at approximately 3-4 knots.
#259 crossed #11 and gybed within the zone, slowing considerably.
#11 sailed between #259 and the mark, causing #259 to alter course to avoid collision.
Conclusions & Rules That Apply
Under RRS 18.2(b), #259 was entitled to mark room and by forcing her to change course to avoid collision, #11 did not give her that room.
Decision
#11 is disqualified from race #1.
