178 was clear ahead of 26 when entering the zone. 178 did a tactical rounding of the leeward mark. 26 attempted to sail between 178 and the mark There was contact. Each skipper identified damage he believed his boat sustained in the incident
#26 broke RRS 18.2b, but exonerated by doing penalty turns. #178 broke RRS 14 by failing to avoid avoidable contact. #178 is not exonerated under RRS 14b since the uncontradicted testimony is that damage to each boat was sustained in the event.
