LEARN TO SAIL IN ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS! - Novice, Intermediate and Advanced level Sailing Classes (Youth Aged 8-17)

Our Novice group caters to individuals with little or no sailing experience. Students sail in Optimist sailboats.

For Intermediate sailors who have completed basic skills, the sessions are focused on skills improvement and racing skills.

Our Advanced sailors focus on racing tactics, more challenging and longer distance sails and will use Optis, Lasers and 420s depending on age, size and ability.

Classes are offered in two-week segments for either morning (9am-noon) or afternoon (1pm-4pm) sessions. Within each session, sailors are instructed in groups based on skill level.

News & Notices

  • Jun 10, 2020 14:29 EST

IN LIGHT OF THE DELAYED START TO AHSEP'S SCHEDULE DUE TO STATE/LOCAL GUIDELINES, AHSEP HAS ADDED TWO LATER SESSIONS (E & F) TO OUR OFFERINGS. MEANWHILE, WE ARE KEEPING OPEN THE POSSIBILITY OF ADDING A FINAL WEEK BEYOND THESE SESSIONS (AUG.17-21) TO RUN OUR TRADITIONAL "ADVENTURE WEEK" FOR OUR ADVANCED SAILORS. PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR EMAILS AND OTHER NOTICES ANNOUNCING ADDITIONAL SAILING OPPORTUNITIES. Also, although we have decided to cancel the annual "AHSEP AWESOME" regatta this summer, AHSEP is sponsoring the AHSEP 2020 Sandy Hook Bay Thursday Night Dinghy Series (Open to 2020 AHSEP Advanced Students contingent on equipment availability). The Atlantic Highlands Sailing Education Program (AHSEP) invites experienced sailors of all ages to come and enjoy the warm water and terrific evening sailing conditions in Sandy Hook Bay this Summer. This is not an instructor supervised event but rather a mid-week racing opportunity in which experienced AHSEP sailors can participate. The series will be sailed each Thursday from June 18, 2020 through August 6, 2020. We expect a good turnout of Lasers. Experienced sailors of other classes such as the 420 or Opti should contact us before registering to confirm there is sufficient interest in a particular class. AHSEP will have some vessels available for our 2020 class registrants to use for this series based on a first-come first-served basis and only if pre-booked with AHSEP.
