About Event

Welcome to the 2013 Lake Norman Hospice Regatta website!  With the help of RegattaNetwork and you, let's make it the best one yet!

Festivities include a Friday evening social, the Regatta, auction/raffle, games, an interfaith “Memorial Moment” for those interested in honoring or remembering loved ones, Saturday dinner, and Sunday donation cookout.  Merchandise provided by Coral Reef Sailing Apparel will be on sale, featuring artwork provided by Marine artist Willard Bond.

You don't have to race to help us support Hospice & Palliative Lake Norman; visit the Storefront to purchase dinner tickets, and please come join us for all of our shoreside activities.

    Thank you for your interest in the 13th Annual Lake Norman Hospice Regatta, which benefited Hospice and Palliative Care Lake Norman! In combination with the Lake Norman Hospice Regatta Party, held in May at Peninsula Club, the Regatta and Party raised over $110,000 for HPCLN.

    47 boats attended the Regatta, where we had 2 great days of racing in 7-14 kts of breeze. A drawing of names from the class winners determined our Champion; Team Stella won that honor, under skipper Mark Gise. Crewmembers were Kelly Milliken and Mays Dickey. Mark was sailing Thistle 3951, and was sailing in memory of LNYC's Sean Murphy (as were many of the competitors).

    Division 1 (Spinnaker): Treez Decker, Huntin' Tripp (Tripp 26)
    Division 1 (Ultimate 20): Bill Wiggins, Running With Scissors
    Division 3 (Cruising Fleet): Wayne Mackey, Temptress (Luders 16)
    Division 4 (Thistle): Mark Gise
    Division 4 (Flying Scot): Peter Beam
    Division 4 (Highlander): Tom Raymond
    Division 5 (420): Avery Hale and William Bowden
    Division 5 (Optimist): Garrett Mergenthaler
